sunday night tv

Desperate Housewives: I know the show has gotten a lot of grief this year, but I have to admit that I still find it entertaining. Granted, I don't think I really care about any of the storylines, but at least the show holds my attention (ahem, Six Degrees ...). The Gaby plot tonight was pretty silly; yes, 30 may be "old" for a model, but it's going a bit far to cast her as the mom in a shoot ... Ann Taylor catalog, maybe, but not librarian/school marm/wife. Also, I need to discuss the constant need for a big mystery (or two ... or four) on the show. I get that they want to have an overarching storyline, but I think I speak for most viewers when I say, "Who cares about Monique?" and "Do they really need to make the new neighbor a sex offender?" Marc Cherry should take in an episode or two of "Veronica Mars" and jot down some notes on compelling season-long mysteries that are sometimes the focus (not just in the last two minutes of an episode), but never forced. The biggest complaint about DH last year was the lack of interaction btw the girls ... clearly viewers care more about the characters they know than about some stupid mystery. While I'm complaining (I swear, I really do like the show!), I need to comment on the horrible acting by Julie (Andrea Bowen). When did she become so irritating? It's actually become uncomfortable to watch her onscreen. Anyway, just my thoughts ...

Brothers & Sisters: I love this show more each week (and it's not just because I've had a huge crush on Dave Annable since "Reunion"). The characters are believable and the plots actually draw you in ... even if my non-finance-trained mind doesn't really get the whole pension scandal. Two other things I love about the show: 1. Marika Dominczyk, the actress who plays Tyler, is engaged to Scott Foley (another TV boyfriend of mine). 2. Rob Lowe (enough said)

I figured I may as well do something productive with all the television I watch ...
